Gail Edwards Flute

Teaching

As a teacher, Ms. Edwards is available through her private studio or in a group/school setting. She is also active as a clinician, a coach for performance/audition preparation, for masterclasses, school assemblies and as a music theory/ear-training instructor.

Ms. Edwards' teaching philosophy is to share her joy of making music through a deeper understanding of music and performance practices.

Gail Edwards Music Studio (GEMS)

GEMS is a very active flute studio established by Ms. Edwards in 1980. In 2003, GEMS performed in Las Vegas at the National Flute Association's 31st annual Flute Convention. Selected from a field of several hundred international candidates, GEMS was the only ensemble with a diverse age range. GEMS flutists also participate in the CMEA Solo & Ensemble Festival each year. Without exception, they receive very high marks. Many of the judges comment on the high level of personal skill the players demonstrate in addition to their highly refined ensemble skills.

GEMS flutists have performed at:

  • Christmas carols at the San Francisco City Hall Rotunda
  • Chocolate Festival in Ghirardelli Square
  • Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Pacifica
  • National Anthem for the SF Giants
  • Pacifica's annual street fair, the Fog Fest.

WHO CAN JOIN?
Ms. Edwards welcomes flutists of any age or level to join GEMS. One only needs a flute and a willingness to learn.
